Dalai Lama in Salzburg
Salzburg, fair (Salzburgarena)
Monday, 21 May 2012, 9.30am to 3.30pm, admission from 7.30am
9.30am to 11.30am – lecture & discussion “World Peace and Universal Responsibility”
There are numerous cases in the modern world to demonstrate that pursuing own interests rather than the well-being of the community as a whole can cause a lot of suffering. Sustainable peace and understanding, however, can only be achieved by working not only for oneself but also for the well-being of others. In the morning of May 21, H.H. the Dalai Lama will give a lecture at Salzburgarena about “World Peace and Universal Responsibility”. Afterwards there will be a discussion with Michael Kerbler (ORF, Austrian broadcasting corporation) and Dr. Alexandra Föderl-Schmid (Der Standard, daily newspaper) on how to make today’s world a more peaceful place.
1.30pm to 3.30pm – inter-religious dialogue “Harmony in Diversity”
The inter-religious dialogue in the afternoon aims at a more in-depth discussion between the spiritual traditions. Furthermore, the question on how to cultivate and live religious harmony in an increasingly diverse and globalized culture will be addressed. The host will be Dr. Doris Appel, head of the department “religion” at ORF radio (Austrian broadcasting). His Holiness the Dalai Lama has always been committed to the appreciation and respect of the richness of all religious affiliations. Moreover, His Holiness has always been promoting ways of peaceful and harmonious co-existence among religions.
Due to strict security measures you are kindly asked to arrive already at 7.30am in order to ensure a smooth procedure.
