Judas Priest is heavy metal deluxe. Together with Saxon and Iron Maiden, they initiated the paradigm shift from tepid, uninspired no future punk to harder tunes and established the “new wave of British heavy metal”. Founded by K.K. Downing and Ian Hill in 1971, Judas Priest is on a par with AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Kiss on the Mount Olympus of rock. Who hasn’t headbanged to hits like “Breaking the Law” and “Hell Bent For Leather” from dusk till dawn? Rob Halford’s appearances with bike leathers and Harley Davidson are legendary.
Whitesnake, equally famous, are joining Judas Priest at Vienna’s Stadthalle. They will introduce two new snakes: drummer Brian Tichy and bassist Michael Devin. The band will play songs from their new studio album. It does not have a title yet, but will be released in the end of March 2011 with Frontiers.
"We've had an incredibly creative and productive year of writing and recording and also mixing several projects we plan to release over the next few years ... We're particularly excited about the new album and we look forward to presenting a mix of new and more familiar songs when we tour ... We have all missed the excitement of performing live and are very excited to introduce the new chaps to the Whitesnake choir."
