In 1998, they accompanied the Beastie Boys through the USA and Canada while their album “Rafi’s Revenge,” immediately followed by the live recording “Conscious Party,” saw its worldwide release. In the spring of 1999, they continued their journey on the road to success with their first US tour as headliners and later toured with Rage Against the Machine, expanding their fan-basis again. Combining fiery ragga with the traditional shouts of the Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Asian Dub Foundation regards “Community Music” (2000) a tribute to their roots. The opulent album was the first record in seven years to achieve ten out of ten possible points in NME, the British Bible of music. Despite their commercial success, Asian Dub Foundation have remained untiringly active in the front line against globalization, racism, exploitation and war, and strike surprisingly soft, balladesque notes on “Enemy Of The Enemy.” However, harder tunes like “Fortress Europe” are not missing either. In late autumn, Asian Dub Foundation will be touring Europe with their new album “Punara,” and also pay a visit to Vienna!
