Now they are coming back to Europe with a newly designed and fascinating theatre event “Shin-On.” “Shin-On - The Heartbeat” promises the return to the initial idea, of which YAMATO - The Drummers of Japan once founded: back to the principle that is felt deep in the soul! Back to the tone which the beat of the human heart unites with the divine beat of the drum. The tone, the origin and essence of life which reconnoitres the rhythm of life and unites humankind. A bridge spanning the past with the future in the deep warm sound of the taiko. The compositions of the theurgist Masa Ogawa - himself an outstanding taiko virtuoso and founder as well as artistic conductor of YAMATO - make an impression with their complexly arranged rhythm structures, meditative Far Eastern melody and powerful sound with a pinch of pop. For many months Ogawa retreated to the premises of the group in Asuka, the middle point of his work in the heart of traditional Japan, in order to gather inspiration and allow this ancient legendary area flow into his production of “Shin-On.” The magnificent ensemble, which was chosen and instructed by Masa Ogawa, held extended and difficult rehearsals in the isolation near the ancient Japanese capital of Nara, which allowed for a significant and deep impulse for the maturing of this project.
