Europe premiere in Vienna! Friends of the crime drama series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” watch out: The interactive forensic science exhibition CSI: The Experience that lets you solve one of several cases yourself is coming to Vienna! This winter, visitors will take over the first task of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and play the character of the forensic scientist Gil Grissom in CSI: The Experience. Inspired by the successful CBS TV series, the traveling exhibition sheds light on the process of scientific investigation and the real methods used in the process of solving a criminal case.
DNA and firearm analyses, forensic anthropology and toxicology will acquaint the CSI: investigators with applied science in a breathtaking multimediascape rich in iridescent special effects. The stars of the TV series will welcome the Visitors of CSI: The Experience from a huge video monitor and lead them through the crime scenes and the investigation.
CSI: The Experience features two different crime offices, where the new recruits are introduced to the latest modern techniques used in analyzing evidence. In order to test tread marks, textile fibers and pigment particles for agreement, mass spectrometer data and microscopic reports are collected and analyzed, contributing to the development of an evidentiary hypothesis. The laboratory also interprets digital evidence as can be found in cell phones and other electronic gadgets, fingerprints, blood samples, and bullet casings.
In a further laboratory area, visitors are invited to examine the forensic art of studying the aging process, and will implement their new knowledge in order to match a picture with a victim. Towards the end of CSI: The Experience, the recruits use their scientific information to answer a number of multiple choice questions on a touch screen. Upon completion of the interrogation, a statement of facts will be compiled. When the result is positive, the novice CSI: investigators receive a CSI: certificate.
Developed by the Fort Worth Museum for Science and History and EMS EXHIBITS Vienna and supported by CBS Consumer Products and the National Science Foundation, CSI: The Experience is, in the style of the popular TV series, geared to adults and children aged 10 or older.
