Dass ein 17-jähriger britischer Songwriter über FIFA-Verfehlungen in Brasilien und Transgender-Schicksale singt oder so locker flockig mit „The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home” auch noch eine Hymne für eine ganze Generation schreibt, ist nicht alltäglich. Dies ist auch der BBC aufgefallen, die ihn in ihrer alljährlichen Prognose „Sound of 2017“ (wer wird in UK der neue Star?!) aufgenommen hat. Wohin die Karriere tatsächlich geht, bleibt abzuwarten. Jedenfalls brauchen wir keine BBC, um zu wissen, dass Declan McKenna ein ganz Großer wird, zumindest für uns Musikliebhaber!
