24 top handball nations have their eyes on the prize
Following the competition’s expansion from 16 to 24 teams in 2024, the Women’s EHF EURO will again welcome 24 participants for its next edition on 3-20 December 2026. The five co-hosting nations and the top three teams from the EHF EURO 2024 — Norway, Denmark, and Hungary — are guaranteed of their starting berth, leaving 16 spots open to be contested in the Women’s EHF EURO 2026 Qualifiers between October 2025 and April 2026.
Six host cities are ready to welcome all handball fans
A truly European event, the Women’s EHF EURO 2026 is co-hosted by five nations, with six venues in total ready to welcome fans from all over the continent:
- Katowice (POL): preliminary round, main round, and final weekend;
- Cluj-Napoca (ROU): preliminary round and main round;
- Oradea (ROU), Brno (CZE), Bratislava (SVK), and Antalya (TUR): preliminary round.
The preliminary round consists of six groups of four teams each. Only the top two teams from each group continue their journey in one of the two main round groups. The teams that finish first and second in those groups advance to the semi-finals, while the third-ranked teams also make it to the final weekend for the 5/6 placement match. The final in Katowice on Sunday 20 December will see the new European champions crowned.
