The Guided Tour of the Burgtheater promises special insights into the architecture, art, organization, and history of one of Europe’s largest and oldest spoken-word theaters.
The tour includes a visit to the grand staircases with their famous ceiling paintings by Franz Matsch and the brothers Gustav and Ernst Klimt, the sculpture collections dedicated to renowned poets such as Hauptmann, Schnitzler, Raimund, and Nestroy; the Hall of Fame with portraits of famous ensemble members; and a look at the technical facilities of Europe’s largest drama stage—or, if possible, a visit to the auditorium.
Note from the organizer: Please note that, due to rehearsals and performances, we cannot guarantee that the guided tour will include access to the auditorium. Tour dates are always published in advance on the 10th of the previous month.
