Seit jeher sind Klöster Orte der Spiritualität und der Musik. Das gilt auch für das Stift Melk, wo die klösterliche Musikpflege im 18. Jahrhundert einen Höhepunkt erlebte. Die im Jahr 1978 entstandene Idee von Prof. Helmut Pilss, zu den Pfingstfeiertagen eine für die barocken Räume des Stiftes maßgeschneiderte Konzertreihe zu etablieren, greift diese Tradition wieder auf.
