Scotland’s Fright Years are taking their anthemic, emotive rock to mainland Europe for the first time, with an eleven-date headline tour from 31 March to 12 April 2027 that takes in Berlin, Vienna, Zürich and Amsterdam’s Paradiso.
There’s something in Fright Years’ sound that could only come from Edinburgh: the stone, the weather, the beauty, the weight of everything that’s happened there. Since forming in 2021, Juliette Kelly, Harrison MacLeod-Bonnar, Struan Blacklock and newest member Fraser Charleson have made guitar-driven indie rock that turns personal pain into something universal and cathartic.
It’s a band built on contrast, where close-to-the-bone lyrics meet big, unashamed guitars. Underneath sits the emotional weight of 90s alt-rock, 80s post-punk and new wave, and modern indie, with touchstones including Wolf Alice, Simple Minds, The Killers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
At the centre is Kelly’s remarkable vocal, shifting effortlessly from raw and intimate to soaring and anthemic. It has earned them a reputation for powerful live shows and a fast-growing fanbase to match. If Florence + The Machine have ever stirred something deep in you, Fright Years are the next band you need to hear.
They have sold out UK headline tours, supported Belle and Sebastian in front of 4,000 people in Edinburgh, toured with Heidi Curtis, Overpass and Ellur, and played TRNSMT and Belladrum’s main stage. Latest single ‘Dye Star’ premiered on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show in September.
Now, with new music and a new label behind them, they’re stepping into their next chapter. The tour follows the band’s new EP, due in February 2027 via LAB Records, and comes straight off the back of their biggest UK headline run yet in March.
