Die idyllische Weinstadt Retz und das benachbarte mährische Znojmo sind Schauplatz des mittlerweile auch international hoch angesehenen Festivals der "Offenen Grenzen". Vier Wochen lang steht die gesamte Region im Zeichen der Musik und der Literatur. So dürfen sich die ZuseherInnen auf einen Veranstaltungsreigen aus Konzerten, Literatur und Oper freuen.
Folgend dem Gründungsmotiv "Offene Grenzen" findet seit 2005 die Kooperation mit dem mährischen Znojmo statt. Ziel ist ein gemeinsamer österreichisch-tschechischer Kulturraum.
