The Burgtheater ("Imperial Court Theater") is the Austrian national theater: the most important stage of the country and Europe's biggest spoken-word theater.
It combines tradition, diversity and progress. An audience of over 410000 attends almost 800 performances at the Burgtheater as well as Akademietheater, Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz and Vestibül every season. These theaters have a company of over 100 famous actors, and their leading directors work with Karin Beier, Luc Bondy, Jan Bosse, Andrea Breth, Barbara Frey, Dieter Giesing, Nicolas Stemann, René Pollesch and others. Many award-winning "Burg" productions are invited to the great theater festivals in Berlin, Moscow or Edinburgh every year.
