Jethro Tull: neues Album, neue Single & live in Österreich

Das 23. Studioalbum von Jethro Toll wird den treffenden Titel "RökFlöte" tragen und wird am 21. April veröffentlicht. Das Album dreht sich über 12 Songs hinweg um nordischen Paganismus, seine Gottheiten, aber auch um die titelgebende Rockflöte selbst, die Jethro Tull immerhin so ikonisch gemacht hat.

Zur Einstimmung gibt es mit heute auch gleich die erste Single des Albums, die da "Ginnungagap" heißt. Der Track ist inspiriert von dem Gott Ymir, dem Urwesen, das aus dem Gift geboren wurde, das aus den eisigen Flüssen namens Élivágar tropfte und in der graslosen Leere von Ginnungagap lebte.

"RökFlöte" ist bereits vorbestellbar und erhältlich als Deluxe-Vinyl- und Deluxe-CD-Version, sowie natürlich als CD-Digipack, Gatefold-LP und digital. Bei den Deluxe-Formaten sind neben den 12 Songs auch Demo-Material, ein Bonustrack und ein Interview mit Ian Anderson neben anderen Gimmicks dabei.

The title of this offering went through a little change or two along the way. I started with the idea of a predominantly instrumental album for rock flute – as in rock music. When the subject material of the album presented itself, I was drawn to the term Ragnarök from Norse mythology - their version of apocalyptic end times or Biblical Armageddon. The 'final showdown' scenario is ubiquitous and inherent in Hinduism, Christianity and Islam, for example. Ragnarök translates as 'destiny of the Gods', the rök part meaning destiny, course, direction. With umlaut firmly in place, courtesy of the Germanic origins of Old Norse, Flute became Flöte in keeping with the spelling. With me so far? I just can't miss the glorious opportunity for a good and legitimate umlaut.
